Heaven On Earth
July 15, 2016
The
summer of 2016 was well spent on a trip to J & K. After landing in Srinagar
on the 1st of July, the trip kick started with sightseeing and the
ones on the list were the beautiful gardens of the region- Chashma Shahi,
Nishant and Shalimar Gardens. With their impeccable ambience and the wonderful
sight of flowers, the gardens were a perfect place to stroll around to spend
and enjoy a peaceful day.
When
in Srinagar, never forget to spend a day or two in the houseboat. If you think
the outside it pretty, wait until you see how splendid it looks on the inside.
You can sit back and enjoy the picturesque scenery while commuting to and fro
from the boat in the Shikara. After a long and tiring day, it was bliss to lie
down and relax in the Shikara whilst running my hands through the water. I can still remember the night like it was
yesterday as I went through the floating market while sipping on the famous and
indeed delicious Kashmiri ‘Kahwa’
Gulmarg
Known
as the ‘Meadow of Flowers’, Gulmarg is one of the most beautiful places in the
state. It is known for its ‘Gondola Ride’ which is also the highest cable car
in the world, divided into two phases placed at 9000 and 13,000 ft, this was definitely
the highlight of my trip.

Ever
since I was a kid I’ve always dreamed of playing in the snow and my wish
finally came true. The snow was a delight. I went sledging and skiing for the
first time, although directed by an instructed. After tripping and having snow
shoved in my face, it was time for some fun and a photo session. The amount of
climbing that I did was all worth it cause my ride back down was truly adventurous,
the Sledge came down at full speed. Thus, marked the end of the Srinagar
Diaries but the real fun was yet to begin
