action, thriller and political drama starring Ji Chang Wook, Song Yun Ah, Girl
Generations’ Im Yoona and Jo Sung Ha. K2 has won recognition for its
outstanding action sequences and plot twists. It drama revolves around the corrupt
lives of politicians and those holding powerful positions in the country who do
as they please by manipulating those around them
Kim
Je Ha a.k.a K2 (Ji Chang Wook)
A
fugitive on the run ends up in South Korea and ,while trying to live his life
peacefully, witnesses an event and is hunted down by Choi Yoo Jin- Head of the
JSS Security Company to prevent him from
exposing a scandal that will tarnish the name of the presidential candidate;
Jang Se Joon. An unlikely turn of events reveals the fact that they share a
common enemy which results in the ex-mercenary being hired as a bodyguard by
Choi Yoo Jin.
His first assignment was to guard the illegitimate daughter of
Jang Se Joon. Little did he know that the girl who begged him to save her life
in Spain, was the same one that he would end up protecting.
Choi
Yoo Jin (Song Yun Ah)
The
owner of JSS Security, Daughter of a chaebol and wife of the presidential
candidate Jang Se Joon.
Choi
Yoo Jin is a ruthless woman who would go to great lengths to get what she
wants. Jealous of the history her husband had with Uhm Hye Rin(Son Tae-Young), she takes it out on their daughter Go Anna and sends her abroad where she is held hostage and this keeps Jang
Se Joon wrapped around her finger. She sets her sights on becoming the First
Lady and does everything in her power to ensure that her husband succeeds even
if it requires getting rid of certain people.
Despite
appearances she acquires a soft spot for Je Ha and does everything in protect
him and also aids him in his plan for revenge against the presidential candidate
of the opposition party; Park Gwan Soo (Kim Kap Soo)
The
reason why she is how she is, is mainly because she wasn’t loved enough by her
own father and the fact that her brother and his in-laws are always looking for
opportunities to take over the ownership of her company. She is the reason for Jang Se Joon's entry into politics and despite leaving her family behind to chase the man she loves, he does'nt love her in the least
There is not a single scene in the drama where she fails to amaze her viewers. Right from her tempers, to her cool and calm composure, to her evil plotting there is an element of elegance that remains throughout. There are certain scenes where she looks absolutely stunning and it's quiet hard to believe that she's 40!
Go
Anna (Im Yoona)
The
daughter of Jang Se Joon and then famous actress Uhm Hye Rin.
After the sudden
death of her mother, she is sent abroad by Choi Yoo Jin and spends almost her
entire life in isolation and thereby suffers from social phobia. During one of her attempts to escape she ends
up in the middle of the road and is photographed by the famous designer in
Spain who calls her his ‘Angel’. Due to her photos going viral, Choi Yoo Jin
had no choice but to get her back to Korea.
Upon
entering Korea, she is once again put into isolation where the security team
keeps a close watch on her every move. It was only when Je Ha was assigned the
task of protecting her that she started to come out of her shell. He made her
feel confident and to stand up for herself and played an instrumental role in
healing her social phobia. She has hated Choi Yoo Jin her entire life and
strongly suspects her to be behind the mysterious death of her mother and doesn’t
plan on giving up until she uncovers the truth. The only thing she longs for is to be loved and needed by her father.
In the meanwhile sparks fly
between her and Je Ha but is he on her side of Choi Yoo Jin’s?
Jang Se Joon (Jo Sung Ha)
The
presidential candidate, Anna’s father and wife of Choi Yoo Jin
He
longs to be with his daughter but is prevented from doing so by Choi Yoo Jin
who has him wrapped around her little finger. He constantly ignores Anna and
treats her harshly as he believes it to be the only way to protect him from
Choi Yoo Jin.
The
only woman whom he has ever loved was perhaps Uhm Hye Rin that this angers Choi
Yoo Jin very much. He is involved with a number of woman and when he gets
caught it is his wife who cleans up his mess. He is loved by the citizens of
Korea and in the eyes of the people he is a very kind and honest man,
completely capable of governing the country
Others
Shin Dong Mi plays the role of Kim Dong Mi who is the secretary and the right hand person of Choi Yoo Jin. She deeply cares for her boss and shows distinct hatred towards Jae Ha
Lee
Jung Jin plays the role of Choi Yoo Jin’s younger brother; Choi Sung Won. He is
the owner of JB Group and is pushed by his father-in-law to take away JSS from
his sister. He knows how to play the role of politics and is quiet a tacky
person who is hell bound on watching the demise of his sister. He also pursues
Anna and uses her as a weapon against Choi Yoo Jin
Kim Kap Soo as Park Gwan Soo
Another
presidential candidate who was involved in a scandal in Blackwater which
resulted in the death of Jae Ha’s lover. He does everything in his power to
ensure that Jang Se Joon does not succeed and plots a number of plans that puts
Jang Se Joon and everyone around him in danger
And finally we come to the cute moments between Go Anna and Je Ha
When it comes to Ji Chang Wook one cannot expect anything but perfection. Right from his action stunts to his cute and romantic moments, he never fails to amaze. It was his been rumored that K2 would be his last action drama, so we look forward to seeing him in other genres. Yoona did an amazing job with her acting. Although initially all she had to do was cry and act as a damsel in distress, as the series progresses we get to see the ‘kiddie’ side to her. The series couple have undoubtedly an amazing chemistry together and one of the most cutest moment for me was when he makes Ramen for her ^-^
